Sylvanside Farm | Purcellville, Virginia
Grace and Kevin tied the knot on a perfect August day. Everything about their wedding was flawless, from the venue, to the weather, food and even a late night popcorn bar. Grace and Kevin put so much thought and detail into every aspect of this wedding, making it a truly magical day!
The gorgeous venue, Sylvanside Farm, was established in 1744 and today is a 25-acre working farm with heritage breed animals, including two Clydesdales and a 7 month old Grate Dane named Charlotte. Walking around the property, you can’t help but feel like you’ve stepped into a small village in the European countryside. In 2018, the farm was purchased and converted into a wedding and event space. Sylvanside Farm is without a doubt one of the most beautiful venues I have had the opportunity to photograph.
Grace and Kevin met when they both attended West Virginia University. They met Junior year and were friends throughout that year but didn’t start dating until the summer before senior year. Once they graduated, Kevin convinced Grace to move to northern Virginia with him!
Kicking off the wedding festivities in the Orchard, Grace and Kevin exchanged vows in a ceremony officiated by their uncle filled with love and laughter. During cocktail hour in the Stone Barn, guests were able to give the Clydesdales, Adeline and Sunday some carrot treats. Any wedding that includes horses is always a favorite of mine! At over 200 feet long, with post and beam construction and beautiful hoop lighting, the Poplar Barn hosted the reception. As the evening continued, guests were able to dance the night away, play lawn games and sit around the cozy fire-pit overlooking the rolling hills.
As for the dancing… this crowd knew how to party! As WVU alumni, there were a few required songs: Take me Home Country Roads, Sweet Caroline and Dixieland Delight, all with a WVU spin of course.
Grace and Kevin made sure to include their sweet puppy Ellen in several wedding details. From Kevin’s custom cufflinks, to signs and even a custom cake for her, Ellen presence was felt throughout the entire day!
Grace and Kevin, thank you so much for letting me be part of your special day! I can’t thank you enough for your love and support! I am so excited for the two of you and can’t wait to see what life will bring you!
