Briar Barn Inn Wedding | Rowley, Massachusetts
Rain, snow and freezing temperatures didn’t stop Meaghan and Cody from having the most amazing winter wedding! Briar Barn Inn’s rustic charm in a quaint New England setting, was the perfect location for this celebration.
This wedding was very special to me as Meaghan is a dear friend from high school who I hadn’t seen in years! When she reached out to me about photographing her wedding, to say I was excited was a HUGE understatement! During our senior year of high school, Meaghan and I were in the same English class, one of my least favorite classes. I used to dread walking into the classroom until I saw Meaghan! Her smile literally lights up an entire room and you cannot help but feel happy when you see her! When she told me all about Cody, I could tell that they were perfect for each other!
Every detail of their day was absolutely stunning, largely due to Meaghan herself who made every sign, decoration and display for the wedding! A special U-Haul was even needed to bring the 4×8 foot custom crossword puzzle Meaghan created for her guests to solve during cocktail hour.
For their ceremony, Meaghan and Cody decided to have a handfasting ritual. Handfasting is an ancient Celtic ritual dating back to 7000 B.C. in ancient Ireland. In this ceremony, the couples hands are tied together to symbolize the binding of two lives. It was most often included in Wiccan or Pagan ceremonies and has continued into modern times today, and is where the term “tying the knot” came from.
When it came time to take portraits outside, it started snowing! Meaghan, being the planner she is, was prepared for the weather and gifted a custom shawl to each of her bridesmaids to keep them warm. The guys opted for bold maroon suits, giving their wedding an extra pop of color.
Being around Meaghan and Cody, it is very easy to see how much these two love each one another! Nothing I could say can put into words the love and joy of Meaghan and Cody’s relationship. Not only do they each enrich each other’s lives, but they enrich the lives of everyone around them as well. I feel so blessed to not only have them be a part of the KHP Family, but to have them as friends!
