The Barnes at Timberneck Engagement Session | Surry, Virginia
Erin and Kenny’s engagement session can be summed up in three words: silly, goofy and fun! From play fighting, to swinging and kissing upside down to constant jokes and laughs, I had the greatest time exploring this beautiful property and capturing this hilarious couple.
For their engagement session, Erin and Kenny chose to have their session at their wedding venue. The Barns at Timberneck is a family-owned property and opened to the public in 2016. This historic farm is located in Surry, Virginia. The Timberneck farm house is a beautifully renovated and restored mid 1800’s home. The Barns on the property were constructed in the early 1800’s, along with another barn later being built in the 1940’s.
Erin and Kenny first met almost 20 years ago! Erin was staying at a friends house and Kenny and his friend chased them around the neighborhood. Fast forward 20 years later, Erin’s parents hired Kenny and the same friend to remodel their kitchen. When Kenny saw Erin again, he couldn’t take his eyes off her!
One day Erin and her kiddo were running errands and met up with Kenny for lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. Erin, as she describes herself, was a disheveled mess with her hair on top of her head, little to no make up, jeans and a BBQ stain on her shirt from accidentally dropping a wing on herself.
Kenny told the staff it was Erin’s birthday so that the staff could sing happy birthday to her. Of course, it wasn’t her birthday and Erin was quite embaressed to say the least.
After lunch they went to the marina down by Erin’s parent’s house. Despite the cold and windy weather, they decided to go for a walk on the bridge by water. Because of the chilly weather, Erin wanted to put her hands in Kenny’s pockets, but he wouldn’t let her.
It was really windy, so Erin asked to trade spots since she was getting whipped in the face with her hair. As she turned around, Kenny was on one knee with a ring and Erin’s first words were, “Are you serious?” followed by a resounding “Yes!”
“His selflessness, his willingness to always make sure I’m happy, his blue eyes.”
“Her smile, her laugh her heart.”
