Clover Forest Wedding | Goochland, Virginia
After years of a long distance, being separated by an entire ocean for most of their relationship and having to go through all the legal visa paperwork required, Sam and Cameron finally tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Clover Forest!
Just as the world was shutting down with Covid, Sam and Cameron’s story was starting. They met online 4 days after England shut down and wouldn’t open back up for over a year and a half. From March 2020 until October 2021 they did long distance watching and waiting for things to get better. Although the distance was difficult, it allowed them to really get to know each other before they finally met in person.
The moment the English boarders opened back up, Sam hopped on a plane and headed to London. Finally meeting was the most amazing feeling neither of them were fully prepared for. They spent a week together falling more and more in love in new and different ways. After this trip Sam and Cameron continued a long distance relationship until Cameron visited the US in January 2022, where he eagerly proposed at the airport!
Their first date took place at Heathrow Airport in London when Sam travel to England to meet Cameron in person for the first time. For their proposal, Cameron thought that the airport would be the perfect place as it represented the start of their relationship. Cameron had just gotten off the airplane in the US, walked over to Sam and gave her a hug. After saying a few words, he stepped back and got down one knee where he attempted to sign will you marry me in ASL (Sam has been training to become an ASL interpreter). However, Cameron soon realized that he didn’t have a place to put the ring as he needed two hands to sign, causing him to swear as he realized his dilemma. At first Cameron thought he was ruining the moment, but it turns out that Sam loved it as it was a very “them” moment!
For their wedding day, the couple selected Clover Forest, a Colonial American-era estate on the James River with recorded history dating back to 1761, for their venue. The property consists of rolling hills, fertile farmland, lush forests, grassy pastures, private lakes, farm utility buildings, and the main manor home itself authentically restored in 1980.
Their wedding was full of wonderful special touches including tea favors for their guests, a shots/flower man instead of a flower girl (who had everyone laughing as he made his way down the aisle), and beautiful DIY decor. For their first look, Sam and Cameron invited their parents to join and watch the special moment.
We ended the night with a portrait session with the harvest moon!
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
