Blue Ridge Mountains Engagement Session | Lyndhurst, Virginia
Alyssa and Dalton made the 4 hour drive from their home to the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains for their engagement session. We started at Silver fox Lavender Farm in Nellysford where we walked the grounds, popped some champagne and frolicked through the lavender. We then hopped in the car and made our way over to Raven’s Roost Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Lyndhurst. Although very cold and windy, the sunset was absolutely gorgeous and gave us some stunning colors for their session!
Alyssa and Dalton knew of each other through friends in High School. Alyssa had a rough year her Junior year of high school, so she just stopped talking to guys in general. A few months went by, and Alyssa was scrolling through Instagram and saw that Dalton had posted his snapchat name looking for new friends to talk to. Because Alyssa had known of him, she went ahead and added him on Snapchat to have another friend to talk to. They talked almost every day for a few weeks just goofing off and enjoying someone new to talk to.
For their first date they planned to meet up at the beach, but Dalton went to the wrong beach accidentally and they ended up not meeting up with each other after Alyssa returned from a trip to Florida. When she came back, Dalton and Alyssa met up and went to the movies. After the movie there was a weird and awkward goodbye, because as it turns out they both had feelings towards each other but did not realize it till after they went to the movies together. That being said they said goodbye and went to their cars, once in their cars Alyssa texted Dalton saying, “Hey I know that was a little weird and I do not want to ruin our friendship, but I think I have feelings for you, and I really like you.” Dalton responded, “I feel the same way and really like you too.” From then on they started talking more every day. They decided to go and see another movie together a month later. During the movie Dalton leaned in and kissed Alyssa. Alyssa responded by looking at Dalton and said, “Sir you forgot to ask me something.” Dalton looked at Alyssa and asked her to be her girlfriend and she said yes!
Dalton and Alyssa had been talking about getting engaged and taking their relationship to the next steps for a little while. Dalton joined Alyssa on her annual family trip to the OBX with her entire family. They decided to go down to the pier for the day and go fishing. While the whole family was at the pier, including her grandmother, Alyssa went to go grab a snack and when she looked up, she saw Dalton holding something behind his back. At first, Alyssa was worried because they were using fresh/frozen squid bait to fish and the way their relationship is, Alyssa thought Dalton was holding squid behind his back to touch her with.
Alyssa kept backing up, and accidentally bumped into her grandfather. When she looked up she noticed that everyone had their phones out. Confused at first, Alyssa stopped moving and Dalton got down on one knee and asked Alyssa if she would marry him. She burst into tears and of course said yes!
“I love how he is just about always down to try new things whether it be food or just going someplace new, he is always down for an adventure. I love how selfless he is, he will always help his family and friends in need or even if they just need a little assistance with small things. I love how he remembers the littlest things about me and knows what will stress me out so he goes out of his way to make sure I do not become stressed or overwhelmed. I just love how he is as a person he is kind, loving, selfless, and just knows exactly what is needed in a time of need and stress.”
“I love the fact that she can be so responsible when it comes down to certain things and is always there to help me when need be. She is also very considerate and very giving and has such a sweetheart. Another thing is that she is such a romantic lover, when she talks about our future together, I just can’t help but smile.”
