Maymont Engagement Session | Richmond, Virginia

On a gorgeous Fall day, Christ and Jacob met me at Maymont for their engagement session. At the time, Maymont was hosting Garden Glow where after sunset, dramatic lighting transforms the historic architecture and gardens into a magical experience complete with colorful lighting, lanterns, strobes and art installations. Some of the accessories used for Garden Glow made for beautiful backgrounds for this session, especially the lanterns in the Japanese Garden.

For her engagement session, Christy ordered a beautiful white dress all the way from Australia that she saw on TikTok and fell in love with. When the dress arrived, she had trouble finding the perfect pair of shoes to go with the outfit and decided to make a pair herself!

How They Met

Jacob first met Christy at her place of work, The North Face, when he came in to buy a snowboarding jacket. They had mutual friends, and through them became friends on social media. After plenty of Instagram flirting and a few group dinner dates out with friends, they finally had their first date at Indian Fields Tavern!

The Proposal

Christy and Jacob went to Zion National Park for a vacation. Unfortunately the weather was being difficult and they got slammed with a ton of snow, forcing them to change their plans multiple times. Eventually they decided to hike the Pa’rus trail, and at the last bridge Jacob said he wanted to take some pictures on it. After setting up the Go Pro, they walked out onto the bridge where Jacob proposed, one one knee in the snow!
