Maymont & Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Engagement Session | Richmond, Virginia

On a perfect fall day, Lysa and Thomas wandered through beautiful Maymont and the grounds of the VMFA for their engagement session. As we walked and took pictures, they shared with me how they met, their first date, plans for their honeymoon (a European cruise) and their epic proposal story!

How They Met:

Lysa and Thomas met through a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. The first thing Thomas said to Lysa was something to the effect of, “You have a lot of selfies, for our wedding we can hire a photographer”. The rest is history!

Their First Date:

Lysa and Thomas met at a restaurant called Fat Dragon. They talked about how they both liked watching Top Gear. When talking about his dogs, Thomas said one was named Rinoa after a character in a video game and Lysa immediately knew he was talking about Final Fantasy! They knew they had a lot of common ground pretty quickly.

The Proposal:

For the proposal, Thomas planned an epic scavenger hunt for Lysa. With the help of family and friends, he hid puzzle pieces at some of their favorite spots, and had riddle for Lysa to solve along the way to lead her to the next location. At the end, she was left with 8 puzzle pieces she had to put together that formed a heart. When you threw water on the heart, a hidden message “Will You Marry Me?” appeared.

Lysa and Thomas are getting married in June of 2023 at New Kent Winery.
