Motts Run Reservoir Engagement Session | Fredericksburg, Virginia
Nyla and Patrick wanted to incorporate their love for the outdoors in their engagement session. On a cloudy fall morning, we headed over to Motts Run Reservoir, a 160-acre lake with a shoreline that is undeveloped, making it one of the more scenic lakes in Northern Virginia. Nyla and Patrick are such amazing people, incredibly nice, down to earth and incredibly sweet.
Nyla and Patrick met online and took their time messaging back and forth for about a month before they finally met up in person. Their first date took place in March 2020 and through all the Covid craziness, they grew closer an shared their passions for the outdoors, biking, traveling and camping.
Every year in early March, Nyla and Patrick commemorate their first date. After attending a lecture at Georgetown University, the planned to walk to one of Nyla’s favorite restaurants afterwards.
After speaking with speaking with Nyla’s parents, Patrick saw an opportunity to propose to Nyla as they would walk from the campus. He told her parents and brother his plan and described where they should hide to get a glimpse of the proposal. And thus the stage was set: Nyla’s parents and brother hidden behind a bush, Patrick and Nyla exiting the lecture, pacing in front of neo-gothic Healy Hall, and then a man on a knee in front of a woman. Of course Nyla said yes!
“Patrick is always there to lend a helping hand and supportive words. He has a way of helping me go with the flow and not worry about over planning. He comes up with incredible adventures for us to go on.”
“She is selfless, down-to-earth, and fun-spirited.”
