Hanover Tavern Wedding | Hanover, Virginia
On their ten year anniversary, Holly and Grant officially became husband and wife! Their wedding was full of fall colors, dogs, love and fun! For decorations, they opted for a collection of mums which were given to their guests at the end of the night. The bride’s sister created the stunning wedding cake and the Groom himself created the groomsmen boutonnieres.
Grant and Holly’s story began at Bass Pro Shops. Grant was already a long time employee when Holly was hired to be a cashier and to work as an elf in Santa’s Wonderland. After a few weeks of making many trips up to the front of the store just as an excuse to talk to Holly, Grant new it was time to make a move. He slid her his number on a piece of receipt paper after checking out, asking her to text him when she got off work. That was the simple beginning to their beautiful 10 year relationship. Lucky for Grant, Holly had just transferred from Longwood University to Virginia Commonwealth University where Grant was already a student. The two dated through college while working and ultimately graduating together. After graduating Grant took a part time job with UPS while holding on to the position at Bass Pro. Holly went on to work in the field of Childhood Development and to further her education. The first years of their new jobs were a challenge. It was difficult to schedule time to see one another with their new jobs not overlapping, but they managed to make the best of it and moved in together creating their little family with their beloved dogs Toby, Emmy and Moose. After a few years of living together, Grant knew it had it was time to propose. On their 9th anniversary, Grant surprised Holly with a proposal in their living room with a ring being delivered by Emmy!
Part of the Hanover Courthouse Historic District, begun in 1733, Hanover Tavern is listed on the Virginia & National Registers of Historic Places as a rare surviving example of county government building sets once common in Virginia. The Tavern’s illustrious life included many roles – inn, stagecoach stop, post office and dinner theater.
The Tavern is one of only a few surviving colonial-era taverns in the United States. It has hosted such historic figures as George Washington, Lord Cornwallis, and the Marquis de Lafayette.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
