The Renaissance Wedding | Richmond, Virginia
Associates: Kim & Jess
Sean and Dakota’s wedding at The Renaissance was a long awaited and hysterical celebration with family and friends! A few highlights of their day included pictures at the Virginia State Capitol, a speedo toss (more on that later) and a dance party!
Sean and Dakota went on their first dinner date in 2017 after meeting each other online. Instantly, the two hit it off, remaining at the restaurant for almost four hours while they got to know one another. By the third date, Dakota took Sean to Fleming’s Steakhouse where he asked him to be his boyfriend with, in proper Dakota fashion, a Ring Pop.
After five years of adventures, of highs and lows, making the best memories, and living together for over a year, it was time to pop the question. Sean got to it first, completely taking Dakota by surprise. He bought a ring in June, anticipating an opportunity over the summer to propose. He landed on asking during a family vacation down in St. Augustine, Florida. The entire family was in on the gig, telling Dakota that they were going to get up early to “watch the sunrise.” Around 6:30 AM (“before I even had my coffee!” says Dakota), Sean walked Dakota over to a little nook on a platform above the beach, surrounded by palm trees and illuminated by a striking sunrise. They “stumbled” upon a blanket with a basket of champagne sitting on it, and a ring. It was here that Sean took a knee, and asked the single most important question…
Kim and Jess met the wedding party at The Renaissance before hopping onto a trolly and heading down to the Virginia State Capitol for wedding party and family photos. For their moment down the aisle, Sean and Dakota decided to walk down together, holding hands. After exchanging vows, sharing their first kiss as husbands and celebrating with family, we headed outside for a few quick just married portraits before returning to the party.
Instead of a bouquet toss, the grooms had a different idea in mind. Dakota, known for wearing speedos, donned a speedo over his tux for Sean to remove and toss into the crowd. The moment caused the room to erupt in laughter!
After an epic dance party with all wedding guests, Sean and Dakota made their exit through a crowd of friends and families holding sparklers! The perfect ending to the perfect day!
Congratulations Sean and Dakota!
