Molly and Tim had the most beautiful engagement session at Tim’s family vacation home on the Rappahannock River. Joined by their two adorable pups, Boone and Marsh, Molly and Tim made their session so much fun! At the end of their session we did a little impromptu birthday photoshoot for Marsh who turns 1 today!
When they told me their love story, I couldn’t help but think that it sounded just like a Nicholas Sparks novel! Molly and Tim first met around the age of 9 when Tim and his mom came over to Molly’s house to pick up his brother. His older brother and her older sister were the same age and were friends in high school. It’s everything you imagined it was… two awkward 9 year olds who still believe in cooties and playing Yahtzee, which is still one of their favorite games today! They both went to the same school and ran with the same crowd growing up and were great friends through out the years. Everything changed Senior year… they started to seeing each other in a whole new light. They would purposely change their paths between classes, have scheduled “bathroom trips” just so they could see each other, sit out in the parking lot talking and laughing until it was empty and their parents were calling for dinner time.
The summer before college was filled with river trips, Myrtle trips, late night fire pits in the neighborhood, drive in movies, and pushing the curfew as much as they could. Molly and Tim knew they had something so special but also knew that they were about to spend many years apart. They made a promise that if they were both back in Richmond after graduation (they even had a countdown on their phones) that they would go on a date and see if the sparks were still there!
At the end of the summer, Molly and Tim said their goodbyes and went their separate ways! Tim went to Virginia Tech and Molly went to Coastal Carolina. They spent those years apart to live and grow and figure out who they were as young adults.
Years later Molly and Tim both found their way back to Richmond in their favorite bar, Pour House. Tim did some research to find out Molly was single and living in the area… he walked up to her and said, “So how about that date?”
For their date, the two went back to good ole Pour House! They had tacos and beers and ran around Publix grocery shopping giggling like they were back in Senior year of high school. After spending 6 years apart, it felt like no time has passed. Molly and Tim knew from that moment that they had something so pure and strong!
THE PROPOSAL:
Once Molly and Tim hit a year of officially dating, she knew a proposal would be coming up… so she would give him a hard time and pretend to snoop and hound him with questions! Tim asked Molly’s sister, brother and mom for their blessing before he proposed to her. Thanksgiving 2020 Tim and Molly were heading up to the mountains in Afton, VA to go meet her family. They were driving along enjoying the scenic views with the boys (Boone and Marsh) heads hanging out the windows. When they were about one minute away from their destination, Tim decided it’s time to roll up the windows… well turns out Boone was loving the fresh mountain air so much he wasn’t ready to bring his head in… all of a sudden they heard a loud squeal and choking noise and Boone is hanging from the window with his head stuck! Molly started screaming at Tim to roll down the window. In the chaos of it all, they completely missed the turn off for the house, which was a blessing in disguise since Molly’s sister was hiding on the side of the road with her camera after setting up the proposal spot!
Once at the house and everyone settled and relaxed after the excitement in the car… Molly’s mom told them to go take a walk and see the land that came with the air BnB. They started walking and that is when it ALL hit Molly! She screamed and looked up at Tim and shouted WAIT! and starting hitting all of his pockets until felt the box in is back pocket and immediately started crying. They walked up to the beautiful over view of the land where there were candles and sunflowers. He got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife and she screamed YES!
Molly said, “November 26th, 2020 was the day all of our dreams came true! We can not wait to be married and are so incredibly blessed to be living this life together!”
Tim and Molly, thank you so much for letting me capture your beautiful love story and amazing family. I cannot wait for October when you become husband and wife! And Marsh, HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY BUDDY!
